INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Transylvania University dethrones Bluffton to claim first place of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's volleyball standings.
The Pioneers went 3-0 last week in HCAC action with wins over Earlham, Defiance, and Bluffton. Middle blocker Ellie Stigger had a career-high 21 kills in four sets as the Pioneers defeated Bluffton on the road Sunday afternoon. The sophomore tallied 46 kills in 10 sets for .477 hitting percentage last week.
On the defensive end, Abby Wills registered a match-high 29 digs in a four-set win on Sunday at Bluffton. For the week, the junior added 63 digs, an ace in each game, and also totaled eight assists.
The Rose-Hulman volleyball team defeated Franklin 3-0 last week. In the lone match for the Fightin' Engineers, Bailey MacInnis tallied 20 kills in three sets for a 6.67 average while defensive specialist Katryna Dahlberg added 20 digs in the match.
Earlham College moved to a 3-2 record in conference action after a loss at Transylvania on Wednesday, and a win at home against Mount St. Joseph on Friday. For the week in HCAC play, outside hitter Ashleigh Burton added 22 kills for a 3.67 kill per set average.
