Earlham sophomore Ellie Haland (Afton, Minn. / Math & Science Academy) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Haland took first place in the 800-meter run at last week’s Bob Shannon Invitational hosted by Denison University. Haland clocked a time of 2:23.11, which ranks as the best time in the 800-meter this season in the HCAC and is also ranked 10th in the Great Lakes Region.
Haland also ran a leg for Earlham's 4x400-meter team, which finished second with a time of 4:22.94 and ranks as the second-best time in the HCAC. Earlham finished seventh of 14 teams with 35 points, with Haland helping account for 18 points between her individual and relay events.
The Earlham Quakers will be back in action on Saturday at the DePauw Invitational.
