Earlham's Haland & Hanover's Browning and Harsh Earn HCAC Women's Track & Field Honors

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Earlham College's Ellie Haland and Hanover College's Erin Browning have been named 2019 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year and Field Athlete of the Year, respectively.

Haland, a sophomore on the Quakers squad, claimed two victories at the championship meet. The sophomore won the 800 meter run in a time of 2:22.05 and the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 11:15.94. Haland also claimed a second place finish in the 1,500 meter run (4:48.30) and was a member of the fourth place 1,600 meter relay team (4:10.91).

Browning, a sophomore for the Panthers, claimed two top three finishes in the field events at the outdoor championship. Browning won the hammer throw with a toss of 51.08 meters, finished second in the shot put with a mark of 11.67 meters and also placed eighth in the discus with a heave of 33.57 meters.

Also receiving recognition for her efforts at the meet is Hanover's Alexis Harsh. The freshman earned the Freshman Athlete of the Year award after four top ten finishes at the championships. Harsh claimed first place in the long jump with a leap of 5.31 meters, finished fourth in the 100 meter dash (13.05), took seventh place in the 200 meter dash (27.43) and was a member of Hanover's 4-x-100 second place relay team (50.00).

Hanover's Brian Power was named the HCAC Coach of the Year after leading the Panthers to the school's fifth HCAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field title this spring. Power led Hanover to a first place finish after garnering 179 total points.
