GREENWOOD, IN - The Defiance College women’s track & field team placed fourth overall at the 19-team All-Ohio Championships Saturday. The Jackets finished behind Mount Union, Ohio Wesleyan, and Baldwin Wallace in the standings.
Freshman Micah Wilson (Mims, Fla./Astronaut) broke the DC school record in 100-meter prelims, with the 22nd best performance in NCAA Division III this spring. Wilson then smashed the record with a wind-aided 12.04, to win the event.
Senior Kali George (East Palestine, Ohio/H.S.) won the high jump with a personal best mark of 1.65 meters. The effort also ranks her tied for 11th in NCAA Division III this outdoor season.
The Yellow Jackets are currently ranked 5th in the Great Lakes Region in the latest poll released by USTFCCCA.
The Indiana Division III Invitational was held at DePauw University Saturday. Hanover College led the HCAC field with a second place finish among seven schools.
HC’s Ashlee Arbaugh (Findlay, Ohio/Van Buren Local) won a pair of events at the meet. The sophomore won the shot put with a heave of 11.55 meters and earned the title in the discus with a toss of 32.21 meters.
Franklin finished behind Hanover to place third in the standings. Anna Murdock (Trafalgar, Ind./Indian Creek) earned three event victories on the track to lead the Grizzlies. The junior won the 800 and 1,500-meter runs and was also a member of the winning 1,600-meter relay team. Murdock won the 800-meter run by nearly five seconds (2:23.00) and earned a six-second victory in the 1,500-meter run (5:04.26).
Manchester placed fourth at the meet and was followed by Anderson (5th), Rose-Hulman (6th), and Earlham (7th).
This weekend's schedule will be the final tune up before the HCAC Outdoor Championships at Defiance College on April 25-26.
