INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - During the second week of action for the 2018 women's tennis campaign, seven out of 11 contests were postponed or cancelled due to weather conditions.
Transylvania traveled to Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday and was defeated 6-3, then the Pioneers were at Otterbein on Sunday where they lost 8-1. The Pioneers were led by its freshman No. 1 singles and doubles player, Porsche Robinson.
Robinson went 2-1 on the week in No. 1 singles play, winning 6-3, 6-3 against Midway University's Annette Tran on Wednesday. The freshman also picked up a No. 1 singles win on Sunday versus Sydney Bergman, a 2-6, 6-3, 10-8 win which was Transylvania's only match win on Sunday against Otterbein. Robinson also teamed up with fellow freshman Jessica Burton to pick up two No. 1 doubles victories (8-3 vs. Midway, and 8-3 vs. Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday). Including No. 1 singles and doubles play, Robinson compiled a 4-2 record for the week.
Also in action last week, the Mount St. Joseph Lions were defeated 6-3 on Saturday by Concordia (Mich.), and the Anderson Ravens traveled to IU-Kokomo and lost in a tight 5-4 match.
