Hanover's Mackenzie Spicer Earns HCAC Women's Tennis MVP Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Hanover College's Mackenize Spicer (Indianapolis, Ind. / Lawrence North) has been named the 2016 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's tennis Most Valuable Player. 

Spicer completed her senior season with an overall dual match record of 22-8, while finishing the conference season with a 16-0 mark.  Spicer finished 10-6, 8-0 HCAC, at No. 1 singles and 13-4, 8-0 HCAC, at No. 2 doubles this fall.

Thirteen other players join Spicer on the All-HCAC first team, including one other senior, three juniors, five sophomores, and four freshmen. Anderson's Abby Kirkman (Martinsville, Ind.), Defiance's Hannah Hesterman (Archbold, Ohio), Franklin's Karen Dringenburg (Seymour, Ind.) and Rachel Rose (Springsboro, Ohio), Hanover's Susan Winternheimer (Indianapolis, Ind.), Meghan Farrell (Indianapolis, Ind.), and Cami Jones (Richmond, Ind.), Manchester's Erin Cordill (Zionsville, Ind.) and Mariam Aly (Giza, Egypt), Mount St. Joseph's Morgan Hoehn (Cincinnati, Ohio), Rose-Hulman's Bella Evans (Mission Viejo, Calif.), Naomi Bhagat (Waukesha, Wis.), and Anna Thompson (Anderson, S.C.) have been named to this year's team.

Rose-Hulman's Anna Thompson (Anderson, S.C. / Christ Church Episcopal) was named the conference's Freshman of the Year.  Thompson finished with a 12-4 overall conference record during the regular season and claimed a 6-2 HCAC record at No. 1 singles and a 6-2 mark at No. 1 doubles for the Fightin' Engineers. 

Also receiving special recognition this season is Hanover head coach Ryan Miller. Miller led the Panthers to their fourth straight regular season conference title (8-0 HCAC) and the HCAC tournament runner-up.  The award is Miller's third honor as women's tennis coach at Hanover.
