Women's Tennis Report (Week 3) - Panthers Move to 3-0 in HCAC Play

GREENWOOD, IN - Hanover College moved to 3-0 in conference play to open the season.  The Panthers (5-2, 3-0 HCAC) notched a pair of 9-0 wins over Earlham and Mount St. Joseph during the week.

Freshman Mackenzie Spicer (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) posted a 4-0 singles record as Hanover finished the week 3-1 overall.

Spicer, playing in the No. 2 slot, won 6-1, 6-2 against Oakland City, 6-1, 6-1 versus Earlham, and 6-3, 6-0 in a win over Mount St. Joseph. Spicer also posted a 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (8-0) win at No. 1 singles against Brescia.

The Panthers will face Defiance in conference action this week.

In other action...

Transylvania moved to 2-0 in league play with a 6-3 win over preseason favorite Rose-Hulman.  The Pioneers (3-0, 2-0 HCAC) defeated the Engineers (2-1, 1-1 HCAC) by claiming four of the singles decisions and two of the doubles match ups.

Franklin College (2-2, 2-0 HCAC) stands alongside the Pioneers in the league standings at 2-0.  The Grizzlies remained perfect in league play with a 9-0 sweep of Defiance Saturday.

Manchester University (3-3, 2-1 HCAC) claimed two league wins last week, defeating Defiance and Earlham.  Brandy Leeper (Bremen, Ind./H.S.) finished the week 4-0, winning two matches at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles against the Jackets and Quakers.
