Women's Tennis Report (Week 1) - Earlham Opens Season with 8-1 Win

GREENWOOD, IN - Earlham College kicked off the 2013 season with a convincing win over the weekend.  The Quakers (1-0, 0-0 HCAC) defeated Miami-Hamilton 8-1 on Sunday afternoon in Richmond.

Senior Olivia Engle (Richmond, Ind./H.S.) led the Quakers in the win, teaming up with Claire Welsh (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) for an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles and finished the afternoon with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at the No. 1 singles position. 

Earlham will return to the court on Monday, September 16 against Indiana East.

In other action...

Manchester and Transylvania also earned wins in their season openers last week.  The Spartans (1-0, 0-0 HCAC) defeated Indiana East 7-2, while the Pioneers (1-0, 0-0 HCAC) took care of Thomas More 8-1 Monday afternoon.
