Hanover Tops Franklin for Fourth Straight HCAC Championship

FRANKLIN, Ind. – Hanover College pulled out a 1-0 victory over rival Franklin College to earn the HCAC women's soccer tournament championship for the fourth straight season.  The second seeded Panthers (15-5) earn the school's fifth HCAC tourney title in six years and a trip to the NCAA Division III women's soccer tournament with the win.

The Panthers scored in the 40th minute as junior center back Abby Shroyer found the back of the net for her first collegiate goal.

Senior goalkeeper Karlee VanDerWeele contributed two shutout performances for the Panthers which earned her the HCAC Tournament's Most Valuable Player award for the first time in her career.

The Panthers will learn their first opponent in the NCAA tournament on Monday at 1 p.m. The tournament's first/second rounds are scheduled for November 11-12.
