Women's Soccer Report (Week 4) - Pioneers Pull Out Pair of Exciting 1-0 Wins

GREENWOOD, IN - The Transylvania University women's soccer team recorded a pair of 1-0 road wins over Centre and Wooster this past week, improving to 4-2 overall this fall.  The Pioneers moved to No. 6 in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA DIII Great Lakes Region rankings following the two victories.

Transylvania junior forward Alyssa Kruse (Lexington, Ky./Tates Creek) scored the game-winning goal in both Pioneer wins last week.   

Kruse found the back of the net in the 72nd minute of TU's 1-0 win over Centre Wednesday and scored the game's only goal in the 58th minute of Transy's 1-0 win at Wooster Saturday. 

Transy will host Thomas More Thursday prior to a road match with Ohio Northern over the weekend.

In other action...

Hanover finished the week 1-0-1 against regionally ranked competition.  The Panthers (6-1-1, 0-0 HCAC) finished in a scoreless tie with Thomas More, while winning at Capital 2-0 over the weekend. 

Hanover stands No. 3 in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA DIII Great Lakes Region rankings heading into its final non-conference match at home against St. Mary of the Woods Saturday.

Rose-Hulman improved to 4-1-2 on the season, defeating Fontbonne on the road and tying Centre 0-0 in double overtime.  Sophomore Lucinda Combs (Danville, Ky./Boyle County) recorded 20 saves and two shutouts during the two contests.
