Hanover Tops Transylvania for HCAC Women’s Soccer Title

HANOVER, IN – Hanover College held on for a 2-1 victory over Transylvania University to earn the HCAC women's soccer tournament championship.  The top seeded Panthers (17-1-2) earn the school's second HCAC tourney title and trip to the NCAA Division III women's soccer tournament with the win.

The Panthers jumped out to a 2-0 lead midway through the second half before the Pioneers concluded the scoring with a goal late in the second half. 

Hanover freshman Anna Cornachionne (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) scored both goals for the Panthers in the win and earned the HCAC Tournament's Most Valuable Player award.

Hanover had a 10-9 edge in shots, while Transy held a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Pioneers also led in corner kicks, 8-4.

The Panthers will learn their first opponent in the NCAA tournament on Monday. The tournament's first/second rounds are scheduled for November 15-16.
