INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The HCAC will be sending a pair of teams to the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament this week. Hanover College received the league's automatic bid, while Transylvania University earned an at-large bid into the 64-team field.
Hanover will battle Salem College (N.C.), Saturday, Nov. 16, in a first round tilt. The contest will be played at Thomas More College (Ky.) in Crestview Hills, Ky.
The Panthers (17-1-2) are making their second appearance in the NCAA tournament. HC earned the HCAC's automatic berth in the 64-team tourney with a 2-1 win over Transylvania University in the title game.
Hanover enters the tournament riding a nine-match winning streak and 15-match unbeaten streak (13-0-2).
Salem, a member of the Great South Conference, is 15-3-2 overall this season. The Spirits have won 10 consecutive matches and earned their league's automatic berth in the NCAA field with a 2-0 win against Agnes Scott College (Ga.).
Transylvania will face host Illinois Wesleyan Saturday, Nov. 16 at 5PM (CST) in a first round contest. The Titans have a 12-2-5 overall record and finished with a 5-1-1 mark in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. Transy stands 14-4-2 after falling in the HCAC tournament title match.
