Transylvania Women’s Lacrosse Opens Up 2019 NCAA Tournament at Denison

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Transylvania women's lacrosse team will visit the Denison University Big Red on Sunday, May 12 in its NCAA Tournament opening-round game.

One day after clinching its second-straight Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Tournament Championship, the Transylvania women's lacrosse team discovered its NCAA Tournament opponent during a Sunday evening selection show streamed live on NCAA.com.

The Big Red will welcome the Pioneers to Granville, Ohio for the NCAA Tournament second-round matchup in the first-ever contest between the two programs.

Transylvania (15-4, 6-0 HCLC) advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history and second-consecutive season by defeating Hanover 20-0 in the HCLC Tournament Championship game on Saturday.

Denison (15-4, 8-0 North Coast Athletic Conference) clinched the automatic berth earlier on Sunday by defeating Wooster 13-10 in the NCAC Championship Game.

Denison is making its 21st overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

The NCAA Tournament contest will be played at Piper Stadium on the campus of Denison next Sunday. A start time for the contest is to be announced.
