GREENWOOD, IN - Hanover College earned the title at the Transylvania Invitational last Friday and finished second at the Anderson Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. The Panthers held off host Transy to earn the title at TU and finished behind champion DePauw at Anderson.
Freshman Devan Smith (Depauw, Ind./North Harrison) and senior Sloane Hamilton (Mason, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) finished in a tie for second at Transy with rounds of 91. Transy's Jerra Kelsey (Paintsville, Ky./H.S.) earned medalist honors at the event with a round of 84.
As a team, Hanover totaled 376, while Transylvania finished with a 387.
Over the weekend, Anderson University played host to the AU Invitational at Killbuck Golf Course. Five HCAC schools took part in the 36-hole event, with Hanover leading the way with a second place finish.
HC's Brooke McKay (Carmel, Ind./H.S.) shot a 36-hole total of 155 (80-75) to lead the Panthers, finishing in second place one shot behind the medalist. The performance earned the junior HCAC Player of the Week honors.
Rose-Hulman finished third in the team standings with a total of 657. Freshman Peem Chanrotchanaphan (Chaing Mai, Thailand/Grace International) led the Engineers with rounds of 81 and 76.
Anderson finished fourth in the standings over the weekend. Krista Zurcher (Leesburg, Ind./Wawasee) placed third in the individual standings with a total of 156 (75-81).
Manchester and Defiance rounded out the team standings.
This weekend, all eight conference squads will be competing on the links at the Hanover Invitational September 7-8.
