Rose-Hulman's Josie Schmidt (Eighty Four, Pa. / Ringgold) averaged 15.5 points per game as the Fightin’ Engineers defeated Anderson and Defiance last week and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Schmidt contributed 5.5 rebounds per game, three blocks per game, and one assist per game. The senior shot 14-of-19 (73.7 percent) from the field, and knocked down 3-of-4 from the charity stripe last week.
Rose-Hulman claimed hosting rights and the top seed for this year’s HCAC Women’s Basketball Conference Tournament after finishing the season with a 17-1 conference record.
The Fightin’ Engineers will play the winner of Hanover/Franklin on Friday night at 6 p.m. in Terre Haute, Indiana.
