INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference schedule kicked off last weekend for the women's basketball programs.
The Transylvania Pioneers defeated Bluffton 74-38 on Saturday to begin the 18-game conference schedule. The Pios were led by three in double figures; Shelby Boyle (12), Kristen Hayes (13) and Taylor Jackson (12).
Mount St. Joseph claimed two victories last week over Wittenberg and Manchester. The Lions were led by Alehia Tucker averaging 21.0 points per game. The sophomore tallied 12 points and five rebounds in the 68-63 win over Wittenberg, and scored a career-high 30 points, six rebounds and four steal against Manchester on Saturday.
The Hanover College Panthers have won two in a row with victories at home last week against Spalding and Franklin. Junior Katie Hartman contributed a 21.5 points per game average for the Panther effort while adding a 63.6 field goal percentage last week.
Last week, the Rose-Hulman women's basketball team earned a convincing 91-55 win over St. Mary-of-the-Woods. Senior Ally Bromenschenkel averaged 26.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game last week to lead the Fightin' Engineers to two wins. In the HCAC opener against Defiance on Saturday, the senior recorded her second double-double of the week with 22 points and 12 rebounds in the 61-53 win on the road. Bromenschenkel crossed the 30-point mark for the first time in her career with 31 points in the Crosstown Classic against St. Mary-of-the-Woods on Wednesday.
