INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Transylvania women's
basketball will face opponent Ohio Northern in the first round of
the NCAA DIII Tournament at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind.
The second round poses a potential matchup against Claremont Mudd Scripps (Calif.) or reigning National Champions, No. 4 DePauw on Saturday.
No. 21 Ohio Northern (23-5) is ranked one spot above the No. 22 Pioneers on the USA Today Sports Coaches' Poll. Despite their national ranking, the Polar Bears fell in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament championship game by a whopping 17-points to Capital, 67-50, Saturday afternoon at the ONU Sports Center. Their season's body of work earned them one of the coveted at-large bids into the NCAA tournament.
The Pioneers (25-2) secured an automatic bid with their 40-point Heartland Conference Championship victory over Hanover on Sunday.
