GREENWOOD, IN - Transylvania University (4-1, 2-0 HCAC) opened the conference season with a pair of convincing wins last week. The Pioneers kicked off the week with a 78-56 win at Mount St. Joseph and concluded with an 85-42 win in Lexington over Rose-Hulman
Against MSJ, junior guard Nicole Coffman (Liberty, Ky./Casey Co.) led the charge with 21 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Senior guard Madisen Webb (Georgetown, Ky./Scott Co.) added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the win over the Lions.
The Pioneers jumped out early against Rose-Hulman and never looked back. Transy had 11 different players score in the win as Webb led the scoring with 18 points and five rebounds.
Transylvania is set to travel to Defiance Saturday afternoon for a 1:00 PM tip.
In other action...
Manchester University (3-3, 2-0 HCAC) also kicked off the HCAC schedule with a pair of wins last week. The Spartans won at Defiance 61-40 Wednesday and pulled out a narrow 61-57 victory at Earlham on Saturday.
Senior forward Erynn Meiklejohn (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Concordia) led the Spartans, averaging 15.5 points per game. The senior had a season-high of 17 points in the win over Earlham.
Bluffton, Earlham, Hanover, Franklin, and Mount St. Joseph all posted a 1-1 mark during the opening week of the conference schedule.
