Women's Basketball Report (Week 1) - Pioneers Earn Split at TU Besuden Classic
GREENWOOD, IN - Transylvania University (1-1, 0-0 HCAC) opened the season with a pair of games at the Transylvania Besuden Classic over the weekend. The preseason HCAC favorite beat Adrian 80-71 in the season opener and finished the weekend with an 86-78 setback to Maryville (TN).
Senior guard Nicole Coffman (Liberty, Ky./Casey Co.) scored 31 points with six steals and three assists in Transy's 80-71 win over Adrian Friday evening and added 22 points with three assists in the loss to Maryville (TN) Saturday.
For the week, Coffman averaged 26.5 points and 4.0 steals per game, while shooting 55.9% (19-34) from the field.
Transylvania will return to action on Saturday, November 30 against Spalding.

Manchester University (1-1, 0-0 HCAC) opened the season with a split at the Manchester Main View Tip-Off Tournament. The Spartans beat Kalamazoo 58-52 in overtime Friday and fell to No. 16 ranked Ohio Northern 53-48 Saturday.
Junior guard Jocelyn Hamilton (Columbus, Ind.) averaged 9.5 points, eight assists, 1.5 steals, and six rebounds en route to all-tournament honors. Hamilton turned in a sparkling effort against No. 16 Ohio Northern Saturday. The junior nearly compiled a triple-double with six points, nine assists and seven rebounds.
Manchester will face Chicago on the road Saturday.
