Manchester senior third baseman Katelynn Skeens (Gas City, Ind. / Mississinewa) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Hitter of the Week.
Last week, Skeens guided the Spartans to a 3-1 start in HCAC play. In four league games, Skeens went 9-for-16 with one double, one home run, four runs scored and nine RBI. The senior also tallied one hit against #11 Trine on Sunday in non-conference action. For the week, Skeens batted .500 (10-for-20) and added a .700 slugging percentage.
For the year, Skeens leads the HCAC in batting average (.469) and RBI (19), and currently ranks third in the league in slugging percentage (.625) and fifth in on-base percentage (.470).
The Manchester Spartans (8-10, 3-1 HCAC) will host a doubleheader against Anderson on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. and will also host Kalamazoo on Saturday at 1 p.m.
