Transylvania's Mumford and Bowling & Defiance's Hubble Headline Softball All-HCAC

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Transylvania University's Brittany Mumford and Kameron Bowling have been named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Most Valuable Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively. The All-HCAC squad is selected by a vote of the nine conference head coaches.

Brittany Mumford, a senior infielder for the Pioneers, guided her team to a 14-2 record during the HCAC softball regular season. Mumford was the leader of the Transylvania offensive effort all season long, hitting .466 at the plate with a slugging percentage of .862 in league play. The senior led the conference with 24 runs, eight doubles and three triples. Mumford tallied 27 hits with 50 total bases and a .912 fielding percentage this spring season.

Kameron Bowling, a sophomore pitcher for the Pioneers, was named the league's Pitcher of the Year for her efforts this season. Bowling posted a 9-1 record with one save during conference play this season. The sophomore recorded a 1.19 earned run average, allowing 10 earned runs in 59.0 innings of work this spring HCAC season. Bowling struck out 60 opponents during the conference season and notched seven complete games as well as three shutouts.

The HCAC has also awarded the Freshman of the Year award to Defiance's Kalin Hubble. Hubble garnered a conference-best eight home runs with a .460 batting average during league play this spring. The freshman registered a 1.020 slugging percentage with 23 hits and 19 runs as well as a .895 fielding percentage. The Yellow Jackets finished the season 21-18 overall and finished the conference schedule 9-7.

Mount St. Joseph's head coach Beth Goderwis has been named HCAC Coach of the Year for the second year in a row. Goderwis led the Lions to a 35-7 mark and a 14-1 record in the HCAC this season, including the school's first regular season conference title.

Freshman of the Year: Kalin Hubble, Defiance College

Coach of the Year: Beth Goderwis, Mount St. Joseph University
