Transylvania Captures School’s Fourth HCAC Softball Tournament Title

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Transylvania University softball team captured the 2019 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Tournament Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Pioneers defeated Mount St. Joseph 4-1 in the championship game held in Cincinnati, Ohio on Saturday afternoon.

The Transylvania offense tallied seven hits in the title game with first baseman Meg Liter leading the way with two hits and three RBI. Pitcher Kameron Bowling added 7.0 innings of work in the circle recording four strike outs and one earned run in the victory.

For Mount St. Joseph, short stop Alehia Tucker led the offense in the loss, finishing 1-for-3 at the plate while Kamryn McCool added the solo run for the Lions.

Transylvania improved to 27-11 on the season and advances to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the third consecutive year. The NCAA tournament begins next Thursday at regional sites to be announced Monday afternoon.
