GREENWOOD, Ind. – Manchester University's Laurren Ladwig (Crown Point, Ind. / Lake Central) and Transylvania University's Renae Morton (Olivet, Mich. / Olivet) have been named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Most Valuable Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively. The All-HCAC squad is selected by a vote of the nine conference head coaches.

Laurren Ladwig, a senior second baseman for the Spartans, guided her team to a 9-7 record during the HCAC softball regular season. She was the leader of the Manchester offensive effort all season long, hitting .426 at the plate with a conference-best slugging percentage of 1.021 in league play. Ladwig also led the conference with 19 runs, eight home run and 48 total bases. The senior tallied 44 RBI during the spring season and set a new conference single season record with 19 home runs.

Renae Morton, a senior pitcher for the Pioneers, was named the league's Pitcher of the Year for the second year in a row. She posted a 7-1 record with three saves during conference play this season.  The senior recorded a 0.23 earned run average, allowing two earned runs in 60.1 innings of work this spring HCAC season.  Morton struck out 72 opponents during the conference season and notched eight complete games as well as six shutouts.

The HCAC has also awarded the Freshman of the Year award to Mount St. Joseph's Sarah Miller (Fishers, Ind. / Guerin Catholic).  Miller garnered a 6-2 record on the mound with four shutouts, 50 strikeouts, and a 1.69 earned run average in conference action this spring. The Lions finished the season 23-13 overall and finished the conference schedule 11-5.

Mount St. Joseph's head coach Beth Goderwis has been named HCAC Coach of the Year for the first time in her career. Goderwis led the Lions to a 23-13 mark and a 11-5 record in the HCAC this season, including a second place finish in the conference standings.
