GREENWOOD, IN- Anderson University continued its solid play, finishing the week with a 6-0 record and running its win streak to 14-straight. The No. 23 ranked Ravens (15-2, 6-0 HCAC) earned sweeps of Manchester, Defiance, and DePauw during the week of play.
Freshman third baseman Taylar Kelso (Avon, Ind./H.S.) led the Ravens offense during the week. The freshman finished the week 9-for-18 (.500) with four runs scored, four doubles, a triple, seven RBI, and a .833 slugging percentage.
In the circle, Sami Frazier (Greenfield, Ind./Central) went 3-0 with a 1.68 ERA in 16.2 innings of work. Frazier allowed 13 hits and four runs while striking out 11.
Anderson is scheduled to face Bluffton, Illinois Wesleyan, Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Washington (Mo.), and Fontbonne this week.
In other HCAC action...
Bluffton finished the week 3-1 in league play and continues to sit in the second spot of the standings. The Beavers (16-8, 6-2 HCAC) swept rival Defiance (3-10, 0-6 HCAC) on the road and split with Mount St. Joseph (3-11, 1-1 HCAC) at home. Junior Jess Kuzara (Flat Rock, Mich./Huron) went 7-of-14 (.500) at the plate with three doubles, a triple, five RBI, and four runs scored.
Rose-Hulman (8-6, 4-2 HCAC) swept Transylvania (7-17, 1-3 HCAC) in Terre Haute Saturday. The Engineers also earned a home split with Blackburn in non-league play. Rose-Hulman's Carly Heibel (Fort Wayne, Ind./Lakewood Park Christian) tossed two complete game victories against Transylvania Saturday. The junior allowed one earned run in 14 innings with seven strikeouts, holding the Pioneers to a .163 average at the plate.
Hanover (12-10, 2-2 HCAC) occupies the fourth spot in the HCAC standings following a 2-2 record in league play. The Panthers split with rival Franklin (14-12, 2-4 HCAC) and split at Manchester (5-13, 2-4 HCAC) during the week.
