Softball Report (Week 4) - Hanover Earns Sweep of Westminster (MO)

GREENWOOD, IN - Hanover College's softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader against Westminster College (Mo.) at the L.S. Ayres Athletic Complex. Hanover (3-9, 0-0 HCAC) captured the first game, 2-1, and blanked Westminster in the nightcap, 7-0.

Sophomore shortstop Danielle Merrick (Eminence, Ind./H.S.) keyed the Panthers' offense in two wins. Merrick finished the doubleheader 6-for-7 (.857) with two doubles, one run scored, and one RBI.

In the circle, sophomore Leah Kemmerer (North Vernon, Ind./Jennings Co.) tossed a complete-game in the second game of the twinbill. Kemmerer allowed just two hits through seven innings and tallied nine strikeouts. She pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the fifth inning to help preserve her first collegiate shutout.
