Anderson Captures Second-Straight HCAC Softball Tournament Title

ANDERSON, IN – The Anderson University softball team captured the 2012 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Tournament Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the second consecutive year.  The Ravens defeated Manchester 6-3 in the championship game held at Anderson, becoming the first HCAC softball program to finish the regular season and tournament unblemished.

Anderson completed the tournament with a 3-0 record behind a pair of victories from pitcher Monica Crowe (Muncie, Ind./Wes-Del).  In the final contest, Crowe tossed 6.2 innings and scattered five hits with three walks and five strikeouts to move to 18-2 on the season.

For Manchester (21-23), Kylie Planck (Valparaiso, Ind./Wheeler) led the offense in the loss, finishing 1-for-4 with a home run.
