GREENWOOD, IN- The Manchester University men's cross country team earned the team title at the five-squad Manchester Hokum Karem event on Saturday. The No. 29 ranked Spartans held off Indiana Tech, IPFW, Defiance, and Anderson at the meet.
The Manchester tandem of Jon Cafarelli (Lansing, Ill./Marian Catholic) and Clayton Harlan (Terre Haute, Ind./South) earned the title, posting a time of 39:48.0.
Franklin led the HCAC field at the Franklin Invitational Saturday. The Grizzlies placed fourth in the eight team event, finishing behind Vincennes, Spalding, and Wilmington in the team standings.
Franklin's Kris Sandlin (Scottsburg, Ind./H.S.) led the Grizzlies with a time of 15:48.04 on the 5K course to earn a first place finish in the individual standings, claiming HCAC Runner of the Week accolades.
Earlham, Transylvania, and Mount St. Joseph also ran at the Franklin Invite Saturday morning, placing sixth, seventh, and eighth among the eight competing schools.
Bluffton hosted the Bluffton Invitational on Saturday. The Beavers finished behind Ohio Northern in the team standings.
Hanover spent the weekend competing at the Asbury Invitational. The Panthers finished third place out of six teams with a score of 55.
This weekend's schedule is highlighted by the Anderson, Defiance, and Hanover Invitationals. Defiance and Manchester will compete at Defiance, Anderson and Earlham will run at AU, while Hanover, Franklin, and Mount St. Joseph will run in southern Indiana.
