INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Manchester University's men's cross country team earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Cross Country championships following their third place finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Saturday.
Curtis Nordmann (Bourbon, Ind./Triton) finished fifth overall with a time of 25:21.40 Saturday. Michael Stocker (Yorktown, Ind.) finished 10th with a time of 25:30.20, Jon Cafarelli (Lansing, Ill.) placed 21st (25:46.60), and Chris LaFree (South Bend, Ind.) placed 30th (26:00.80) to earn All-Region honors.
It is the fourth time in the last five years that Coach Brian Cashdollar's squad will represent the HCAC at the national meet. The Spartans placed 29th a year ago at Rose-Hulman.
Rose-Hulman's Ryann-Rebecca Montgomery (Lafayette, La.) earned an individual spot in the women's national championship meet. Montgomery placed third at the Great Lakes Regional last weekend with a school record time of 21:44.00.
Hanover College will serve as hosts for the 2013 NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championships on November 23.
The 2013 event marks the third time Hanover has been awarded the NCAA Division III national championships. Hanover also hosted the men’s and women’s finales in 2003 and 2008.
The two championship races will each include 280 runners from colleges and universities across the U.S. The women’s six-kilometer race will begin at 11 a.m. The men’s eight-kilometer event will start at noon.
