GREENWOOD, IN- The Defiance College men's cross country team placed third overall at the 17-team Penn State-Behrend Invitational Saturday. The Jackets finished behind Lake Erie College and champion Gannon at the event.
Senior Hayden Krick (Antwerp, Ohio/H.S.) had a career day as he set the all-time Defiance record, as well as the course record, at the meet. Krick finished with a first place time of 25:57.8 that shattered the old record of 26:17 set by Justin Perkins last season.
In the race, Krick set a new personal record with the time and was the only runner to finish under 26 minutes in the 8K event. The Antwerp, Ohio native blew away his previous best time of 27:18.8 by over one minute and twenty seconds.
Manchester University led the HCAC field at the Indiana Intercollegiate meet in Terre Haute on Friday afternoon. The Spartans placed fourth among 19 NCAA Division II, III, and NAIA schools.
Curtis Nordmann (Bourbon, Ind./H.S.) led the black and gold with a ninth place finish, covering the 8K course in 26:00.
Franklin College earned a ninth place finish in the standings. Kris Sandlin (Scottsburg, Ind./H.S.) was the highest finishing HCAC athlete, placing sixth overall with a time of 25:53.
Rose-Hulman (10th), Anderson (12th), Hanover (13th), and Earlham (17th), rounded out the standings.
This weekend's schedule features Bluffton and Transylvania competing at Otterbein.
