Men's Outdoor T&F Report - Week 4
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's outdoor track and field teams competed across the Midwest last week.
Rose-Hulman, Hanover and Transylvania traveled to Greencastle, Ind. last weekend for the DePauw Invitational. The Fightin' Engineers finished in first place while the Panthers followed in fourth at the invite. The Pioneers added a ninth place finish out of the field of 10 at the DePauw Invitational.
Rose-Hulman's Eric Fiacable won three throwing events at the DePauw Invitational, including the No. 6 ranked hammer throw (58.87m) in NCAA Division III so far this season. The senior also won the discus with a toss of 46.08m and the shot put (14.81m) to help the Fightin' Engineers win the 10-team DePauw Invitational by 87 points.
Hanover's Reece Hunter set two school records this past Saturday at the DePauw Invitational. The sophomore won the 400m with a time of 48.66 seconds, which is the fastest time in the HCAC and 12th in the NCAA this spring.
Hunter added a third place showing in the 200m, with a time of 22.28, which is among the top 10 times in the Great Lakes region. The sophomore was also a member of the 4x100m relay team that placed third with a time of 43.50 seconds at the DePauw Invitational.
Bluffton and Earlham traveled to Delaware, Ohio to compete in the Ohio Wesleyan Marv Frye Invitational, while Franklin and Mount St. Joseph participated in the Grizzly Invitational in Franklin, Ind.
Franklin's Clayton Brumfield broke an 11-year old program record in the mile run on Saturday at the Grizzly Invitational, winning the event with a time of 4:21.37 and breaking the record by just .12 seconds.
Also competing last week was Anderson, Defiance and Manchester. The Ravens and Spartans traveled to Upland, Ind. for the Taylor University George Glass Invitational while Defiance participated in the Bob Kahn Invitational in Oberlin, Ohio. 
Manchester's Justin Meredith had a pair of strong performances in the field events at the George Glass Invitational over the weekend. The junior placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.77 meters, while adding a sixth place finish in the javelin with a toss of 42.77 meters.
