Rose-Hulman's Hill and Fiacable & Hanover's Strong Named HCAC Men's Outdoor T&F Athletes of the Year

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology's Matt Hill (Connersville, Ind. / Connersville), Hanover College's Andrew Strong (Poland, Ind. / Owen Valley), and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology's Eric Fiacable (Crown Point, Ind. / Crown Point) have been named 2018 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track Athletes of the Year and Field Athlete of the Year, respectively.  

Hill, a senior for the Fightin' Engineers, claimed two event victories at the outdoor meet. The senior won the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:12.11 and also took first place in the 10,000-meter run in a winning time of 32:40.86. 

Strong, a senior for the Panthers, won two events at the HCAC Championships. Strong claimed first place in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.22 and the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 56.40.

Fiacable, a junior for the Engineers, claimed three top two finishes in the field events at the outdoor championship. Fiacable won the hammer throw with a winning mark of 55.88 meters, finished second in the shot put (15.07 meters) and also placed second in the discus throw (47.34 meters). 

Earlham's Nate Papachristos (North Plainfield, N.J. / Union Catholic) was awarded the HCAC Freshman of the Year for his efforts at the championship meet.  Papachristos placed in the top five in three events. The freshman earned first place in the 800-meter run (1:56.68), placed third in the 1,500-meter run (4:06.49), and was a member of the fourth place 1,600-meter relay team (3:27.18).

Rose-Hulman's Larry Cole was named the HCAC Coach of the Year after leading the Engineers to the school's 11th-straight HCAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field team title. Cole, in his 15th season as Rose-Hulman's head coach, saw his squad garner 269.5 points to win the championship.
