Rose-Hulman Set to Host HCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will serve as host of the 2018 HCAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships this Friday and Saturday.  Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology won the school's 10th-straight HCAC men's outdoor title last spring and will look for their 11th consecutive crown this weekend.  The Manchester University and Hanover College women shared the title last spring and each claimed their fourth outdoor championship.

Nine different Engineers currently boast a top mark in the HCAC as well as the 4-x-400 relay team holding the top time. RHIT holds the conference's top mark in five track events and six field events this spring.  Rose-Hulman is currently ranked No. 3 in the latest USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region Computer Rankings.

Anderson University has four top marks in the HCAC this outdoor season, while Bluffton University carries two top marks. Defiance, Franklin, and Hanover each claim the top mark in one event on the HCAC Outdor Bests list this season.

The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers women's track team will try for the school's first outdoor title this weekend in Terre Haute.  The Fightin' Engineers currently hold the top mark in seven events this spring, three track and four field events.

The Earlham women's track team holds the top mark in the HCAC this season in four different track events which include the two relays. Manchester University has three top marks, while Bluffton and Hanover claimed two. Anderson and Defiance each claim the top mark in one event on the HCAC Outdor Bests list this season.

Three men and two women are individually ranked in the national top 20 in their respective events entering this weekend's championship meet. 

Anderson University's Toluwani Adebakin (Lagos, Nigeria / RISS) ranks fifth in the 200-meter sprint with a time of 21.47 seconds. Also from Anderson, Garrett Cooley (Indianapolis, Ind. / North Central) ranks fourth in the long jump with a leap of 7.29 meters. Rose-Hulman's Josh Himes (McCordsville, Ind. / Heritage Christian) is ranked 12th in the shot put with a toss of 16.03 meters.

On the women's side, Rose-Hulman's Jaclyn Setina (Kildeeer, Ill. / Stevenson) is ranked 12th in the high jump with a mark of 1.66 meters. Hanover College's Erin Trimpe (New Palestine, Ind. / New Palestine) ranks 11th in the pole vault with a leap of 3.72 meters.

The meet will be held on the campus of Rose-Hulman at the William Welch Complex beginning at 3 p.m. Friday afternoon and will continue Saturday morning at 11 a.m.
