GREENWOOD, Ind. - The Earlham College Quakers led the three team HCAC field at the Earlham College dual meet last Thursday, placing second in the meet with 59.0 points.
Earlham College's Nate Papchristos (North Plainfield, N.J. / Union Catholic) took first place in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:13.70. The freshman also ran a leg for Earlham's first-place team in the 1,600 medley relay, which posted a time of 3:46.94.
Mount St. Joseph placed third (45 points) as a team, and the Lions were followed by Franklin College in fourth (18 points) out of the field of four at Earlham.
Rose-Hulman traveled to St. Louis, Mo. last weekend to participate in the Washington University Invitational. The Fightin' Engineers placed second out of eight teams with 132.0 total points. Rose-Hulman's Eric Fiacable (Crown Point, Ind. / Crown Point) recorded the second best hammer throw in Rose-Hulman history (173' 10") with a mark that ranks No. 8 nationally in NCAA Division III this season. Fiacable also came home second in the discus (137' 10") and third in the shot put (45' 0 1/2").
Bluffton University and Defiance College traveled to Marion, Ind. on Friday to the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational and did not post team scores.
Defiance was led by freshman Vince Jackson (Mason, Ohio / Mason) who won the high jump for the second time this outdoor season with a leap of 1.92 meters (6 feet, 3.5 inches). That jump moved him into 15th on the NCAA Division III National list through the early stages of the outdoor season.
