GREENWOOD, IN - Anderson University led the HCAC field at the Anderson Invitational Saturday, placing second in the six school meet. The host Ravens finished behind champion Wheaton (IL) in the team standings, while Manchester, Mount St. Joseph, Hanover, and Earlham rounded out the field.
AU's Caleb Collier (Zionsville, Ind./H.S.) led the Raven men with a pair of victories in the weight throw (14.6 meters) and shot put (13.82 meters).
Other AU winners were Tony Johnson (South Bend, Ind.) in the 60 meters (7.00), Eric Linn (Macy, Ind.) in the 5,000 meters (16:19), and Max Kittle (Algonquin, Ill.) in the 60 hurdles (8.56).
Bluffton, Defiance, and Rose-Hulman were also in action Saturday at Ohio Northern. The Engineers placed third among 10 schools, while Defiance placed sixth and Bluffton finished ninth.
Rose-Hulman’s Tyler Hannan (Winchester, Ky./George Rogers Clark) won the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.73 and also helped the 4-X-200-meter relay team place first with a time of 1:32.75.
Defiance’s Tom Postema (Defiance, Ohio/Tinora) won the shot put with a mark of 15.51 meters to lead the Jackets.
The Yellow Jackets have moved up three spots to No. 22 in the latest U.S Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Division III Top-25 poll.
Rose-Hulman stands No. 18 nationally in this week's NCAA Division III Track and Field Team Dual Meet Rankings.
Franklin was in action Friday night, finishing first in the four team DePauw Small College Invitational. Senior Georard Mitchell (Indianapolis, Ind./Howe) won the long jump and triple jump with leaps of 6.56 and 12.88 meters.
This weekend's schedule is the final tune-up prior to the HCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on February 16 at Defiance. All ten schools will hit the track in preparation for next weekend's event.
