INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The 2019 men's tennis season will come to a close this weekend, as the HCAC championships will be held this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at West Indy Racquet Club in Indianapolis.
Rose-Hulman will look to claim the school's fifth-straight HCAC tournament championship and earn the conference's automatic qualifier for the NCAA tournament that begins May 10.
The Fightin' Engineers (11-9, 6-0 HCAC) won the regular season crown for the sixth time in school history and is on a 10-match win streak heading into the tourney. Rose-Hulman will face the winner of Transylvania and Franklin on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Earlham (16-7, 7-1 HCAC) will look to claim the school's fifth men's tournament title this weekend. Earlham and Rose-Hulman met back on March 31, with the Engineers claiming a 7-2 win over the No. 2 Quakers. Earlham will face the winner of Hanover and Anderson in a semifinal match on Saturday at 1 p.m.
No. 3 seed Hanover (9-6, 6-1 HCAC) will open play against No. 6 seed Anderson (3-8, 3-5 HCAC) at 4 p.m. Friday evening in Indianapolis. The Panthers swept the Ravens 9-0 on April 22.
No. 4 seed Transylvania (9-11, 5-3 HCAC) will play No. 5 seed Franklin (7-10, 4-4 HCAC) on Friday afternoon in an opening round match. The Pioneers defeated the Grizzlies 6-3 on April 20.
Action will get underway Friday evening at 4 p.m. with opening round matches. The two HCAC semifinals will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon with the championship match being held Sunday at 10 a.m.
