INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology remains undefeated in conference action with just two Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matches left on the Fightin' Engineers schedule.
The Earlham Quakers and Hanover Panthers sit in a close tie for second on the men's tennis conference standings with a 5-1 HCAC record.
Earlham's Nikolaos Trikkas-Psomas went 3-0 in singles matches and was 2-0 on the court in doubles while leading Earlham men's tennis to a 3-0 week, with HCAC victories over Defiance (9-0), Anderson (9-0), and Mount St. Joseph (9-0). The junior's straight-sets singles wins against Defiance and Anderson were at No. 2 singles, with a straight-sets victory at No. 1 singles in the match against Mount St. Joseph.
With the victories, Trikkas-Psomas remained undefeated in HCAC singles competition with a 5-0 record. In doubles play, Trikkas-Psomas teamed up with Nicola Manni for wins at No. 2 doubles against Anderson and Mount St. Joseph, maintaining his unblemished record in HCAC doubles matches.
Transylvania's Hugo Kouhkna offered a 2-0 week between singles and doubles as the Pioneers won its only match of the week, a 6-3 victory over Franklin College. It was the first victory for the Pioneers over Franklin in three seasons as Kouhkna produced two sizable wins. Kouhkna collaborated with fellow freshman Arjun Gupta for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles. The freshman topped his doubles win with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Jacob Zachary in No. 2 doubles to vault the Pioneers to a key victory in conference play.
