INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Earlham College and Manchester University sit at the top of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference standings with a .500 overall winning percentage before heading into conference action this weekend.
Hanover's Landon Carrico won the No. 1 singles match in straight sets against his competitor from NCAA Division II Bellarmine (Ky.) last week. The junior lost just one game in the singles match, claiming victory with a 6-1, 6-0 score.
The Pioneers Arjun Gupta posted a perfect 3-0 record in No. 1 doubles action against regional powers Thomas More, Ohio Wesleyan and Otterbein last week. The freshman also secured two singles victories. Playing as Transylvania's No. 1, Gupta prevailed by the score of 6-2, 6-2 over Thomas More's No. 1 on Saturday and picked up a hard-fought 7-5, 6-2 victory over Otterbein's No. 1 on Sunday.
Rose-Hulman's Ian Landwehr finished 2-0 at the No. 1 singles position and 1-1 at No. 2 doubles as the Fightin' Engineers fell in a pair of matches against regionally ranked foes Coe (7-2) and Augustana (5-4) on Saturday.
