Manchester's Gonzalez & Hanover's Joseph and Redmon Claim Men's Soccer Top Honors

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Manchester University's Josh Gonzalez (Portage, Ind.) and Hanover's Myles Joseph (Lafayette, La.) have been named the 2018 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer Offensive and Defensive Most Valuable Players. Gonzalez led the Spartans to a 6-3 conference record, while Joseph helped the Panthers earn its first outright HCAC regular season title with a 8-1 record.

Gonzalez, the reigning HCAC Freshman of the Year, led the conference this season with 34 total points to earn Offensive MVP honors. The sophomore forward scored 14 goals and totaled six assists to lead the Spartans scoring attack. In conference matches, Gonzalez led the league with nine goals and 21 points scored in nine matches.

Joseph earned the Defensive MVP for the first time in his career for his efforts this fall. The sophomore back anchored a defensive unit that allowed a conference-best four goals in nine conference matches.  The Hanover defense also registered four shutouts in conference play and seven shutouts overall this season.

Hanover College's Evan Redmon (Louisville, Ky.) has been selected as the 2018 HCAC Freshman of the Year. Redmon, a back for the Panthers, contributed three assists in his first collegiate season. The freshman was also a member of a Panther defense that registered a conference-best 0.44 goals-against average this fall.

Hanover College's Matt Wilkerson has been named the 2018 HCAC Coach of the Year, earning his first honor as the head man for the Panthers. Wilkerson led Hanover to a 12-6-1 record (8-1 HCAC) this season, earning the school's second HCAC regular season crown.

Ten players join Gonzalez, Joseph and Redmon as First-Team All-HCAC members. Those players include: Anderson's Jacob Pokorski; Hanover's Will Bedel, Josh Hughes, and Tanner Korfhagen; Manchester's Drake DeWitt and Brandon Renninger; Rose-Hulman's Ethan Butler and Charles Lynch; and Transylvania's Zach Hill and Alex Shkraba.
