HANOVER, Ind. --- Transylvania University defeated Hanover College on Saturday afternoon to pick up the school's 11th HCAC men's soccer tournament championship and its second straight under head coach Matt Vogel.
The No. 2 seed Pioneers (8-4-6) earn the automatic berth to the NCAA Division III men's soccer tournament with the 1-1 double overtime tie and a 3-1 penalty kick win.
Transylvania junior Caswell Fuller (Mt. Sterling, Ky.) scored the clinching penalty kick for the Pioneer in the championship match.
Transy goalkeeper Drew Grisham (Mason, Ohio) made 10 total saves and stopped three out of the four penalty kicks from the Panther lineup to earn him Tournament MVP honors.
The Pioneers will learn of its first opponent in the NCAA tournament on Monday at 1 p.m. The tournament's first/second rounds are scheduled for November 10-11.
