INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Hanover College remain undefeated after the first full week of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference competition.
The Fightin' Engineers claimed two shutout victories last week over Mount St. Joseph and Defiance. Rose-Hulman's goalkeeper Pascal Schlee allowed no goals with one save in a 2-0 win at Mount St. Joseph, then surrendered zero goals with five saves in a 3-0 win at Defiance. The junior has now gone four consecutive games without allowing a goal, a time span covering 345:57 over the four victories.
Hanover defeated Franklin College 3-1 on Wednesday before traveling to Earlham to leave with a 2-0 road win on Saturday. Forward Josh Hughes led the Panthers offensive attack. The sophomore registered 19 total shots in the wins last week with nine being on goal. Hughes totaled two goals and one assist for five points to lead the Panthers last week.
Defiance and Mount St. Joseph sit in a tie for third in the men's soccer standings with a 2-1 HCAC record.
The Yellow Jackets took a 3-0 loss at home against Rose-Hulman on Saturday, but defeated rival Bluffton 1-0 on Wednesday.
The Mount St. Joseph Lions also went 1-1 last week with a 2-0 loss against Rose-Hulman on Wednesday, but the Mount finished the week strong with a 2-1 win over Anderson on Saturday. Forward Seth Freppon scored both of the Lions' goals against the Ravens to help claim the victory.
