GREENWOOD, Ind. - The HCAC men's soccer title match has been set after an exciting first night of action. No. 1 Rose-Hulman and No. 3 Hanover advance to Saturday's title match at Hanover after posting victories.
Top seed Rose-Hulman claimed a 3-1 win over No. 4 Mount St.Joseph on Tuesday evening. Ben Lyon scored two goals while Alex Jansen added one in the victory. Senior Dieter Schultz also added two assists in the match.
Hanover netted a 2-1 victory over No. 2 seed Transylvania Wednesday night. Senior Matthew Eldridge score the game winning goal in overtime on a penalty kick to propel the Panthers over the Pioneers. Walker Goodbub scored the Panthers other goal to tie up the match with less than five minutes remaining in regulation.
With their win as the top seed, Rose-Hulman has earned the right to host Hanover in the HCAC championship match at 1 p.m. Saturday. The winner will receive the HCAC's automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament.
