HANOVER, IN – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology defeated host Hanover College in penalty kicks, following a 0-0 draw, on Saturday afternoon to pick up the school’s fifth HCAC men’s soccer tournament championship under head coach Sean Helliwell. The No. 2 seed Engineers (12-2-5) earn the school’s fifth trip to the NCAA Division III men’s soccer tournament with the win.
Rose-Hulman sophomore Davis Ferriell (Pee Wee Valley, Ky.) scored the game-winning penalty kick, delivering a 4-3 advantage for the Engineers. He was also named the HCAC Tournament MVP for his efforts.
Hanover held the shot advantage over Rose-Hulman 13-12, while the Engineers registered five corners to the Panthers’ two.
The Engineers will learn of its first opponent in the NCAA tournament on Monday at 1:30 PM. The tournament’s first/second rounds are scheduled for November 13-14.
