RHIT Beats Transy in OT to Earn HCAC Men’s Soccer Tourney Title

TERRE HAUTE, IN – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology defeated visiting Transylvania University, 1-0 in double overtime, on Saturday afternoon to pick up the school's third HCAC men's soccer tournament championship under head coach Sean Helliwell.  The No. 2 seed Engineers (11-5-4) earn the school's third trip to the NCAA Division III men's soccer tournament with the win.

Rose-Hulman senior forward Drew Belk (Jasper, Ind./H.S.) scored the Golden Goal 16 seconds into the second overtime period to deliver the win to the Engineers. Belk was named the HCAC Tournament MVP for his efforts.

Rose-Hulman dominated in terms of shots, taking 15 overall and nine on goal compared to seven and two for the visitors.

The Engineers will learn of its first opponent in the NCAA tournament on Monday. The tournament's first/second rounds are scheduled for November 15-16.
