GREENWOOD, IN - Anderson University received four goals from Todd Canal (Indianapolis, Ind./Covenant Christian) as the Ravens earned their first two conference wins of the season. AU capped off the week with an improbable comeback against MSJ.
Anderson scored three goals in the final 10 minutes to pull off a 3-2 victory over Mount St. Joseph Saturday. Kyler Smith (Mooresville, Ind./H.S.) scored the first goal in the 80th minute and Canal netted the game's final two scores to deliver the win to the Ravens.
Canal also scored the game-tying and game-winning goals in a 3-2 victory over Bluffton earlier in the week.
Anderson (6-9, 2-3 HCAC) will look to creep up the standings with a pair of home matches against Defiance and Earlham this week.
In other action...
Hanover College (9-5-1, 5-0 HCAC) remained perfect in league play and continues to hold on to the top spot of the standings. The Panthers slipped past Earlham 3-2 and earned a 2-0 win at Bluffton, running their win streak to six straight. Hanover will travel to Mount St. Joseph and Rose-Hulman this week.
Rose-Hulman (7-4-3, 4-0-1 HCAC) fell two points behind Hanover in the standings following a 1-1 tie at Transylvania Saturday. The Engineers also posted a 5-0 win over Mount St. Joseph earlier in the week. Rose will welcome Franklin and Hanover to Terre Haute this week.
Defiance College went 2-0 last week, improving to 3-2 in conference action. The Yellow Jackets (8-7, 3-2 HCAC) blanked Manchester 1-0 and beat Franklin 3-1.
