Transylvania's Sneed and Toivonen & Hanover's Meinhart Highlight Men's All-HCLC Team

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Transylvania University's Trenton Sneed and T.J. Toivonen have been named the 2019 Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference men's lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively. The All-HCLC teams are selected by a vote of the five conference head coaches.

Sneed, a junior for the Pioneers, led Transylvania to an undefeated 8-0 record during conference play this season. The junior attack scored 14 goals and totaled 21 assists in league action this spring. Sneed also added 35 total points and 22 ground balls to lead the Pioneers offensive efforts. 

Toivonen earned the Defensive Player of the Year nod for the second season in a row. The junior defender led the conference with 21 caused turnovers in HCLC play this season. Toivonen also added 33 ground balls and anchored a defensive unit that allowed a conference-best 25 goals in eight conference matchups. The Transylvania defense also registered 108 caused turnovers and a 3.22 goals-against average in conference play this season.

Hanover College's Dirk Meinhart has been selected as the 2019 HCLC Newcomer of the Year. Meinhart, an attack for the Panthers, contributed 15 points in his first collegiate season. The freshman was also a member of a Panther offense that registered 17.25 goals per game this spring.

Hanover College's Jeff Roberts and Transylvania University's Terry Justice have been named the 2019 HCLC Co-Coaches of the Year. Roberts earns the honor after his first season with the Panthers, while Justice claims the award for the second time with Transylvania. Roberts led Hanover to a 12-6 record (6-2 HCLC), earning a second place spot in the standings. Justice led the Pioneers to the school's fourth regular season crown in five years with an unblemished conference record and a 14-5 overall record.
