LEXINGTON, Ky. --- Transylvania University notched a 14-8 victory over Hanover College in the Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference Tournament Championship on Saturday afternoon. The top seeded Pioneers (14-4) claimed the school's fifth consecutive conference tournament title and earn a trip to the NCAA Division III men's lacrosse tournament with the win.
Transylvania pulled away in the third quarted against the Panthers, stretching a three-goal halftime lead into an 11-6 advantage after three quarters of action in the championship game at Pat Deacon Stadium.
The Pioneers Trenton Sneed and Corbyn Buchart led the offensive attack for Transylvania, each registering four goals apiece while Sneed added four assists to the stat line.
Transylvania's Michael Webb picked up the win in goal after tallying eight saves in the matchup. As a team, the Pioneers added 37 ground balls and went 16-for-25 in face-offs during the championship match.
Transylvania will learn their first opponent in the NCAA tournament on Sunday, May 5 at 9 p.m. The tournament's first/second rounds are scheduled for May 11-12.
