INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Rose-Hulman and Transylvania sit atop the men's basketball Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference team leaderboard after the holiday break.
In the first week of 2019, the Rose-Hulman men's basketball team claimed two conference victories at home against Hanover and Earlham. Sophomore Craig McGee led the Fightin' Engineer effort with 18.5 points per game and a 58.3 field goal percentage.
The Transylvania Pioneers kicked off the New Year with victories over Earlham and Defiance. The Pios were led by guard Michael Jefferson who averaged 14.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. The sophomore added five assists per game and went 68.4 percent from the field.
In a 2-0 week for the Anderson Ravens, Stanley Duncan scored a game-best 28 in an 87-80 win over Defiance on Wednesday. The senior guard went 14-of-15 at the free-throw line. In Saturday's 69-61 win over Bluffton, Duncan nailed a three to put the Ravens ahead for good with seven minutes left to play. For the week, the senior averaged 19.5 points, 1.5 steals and a 42.9 field goal percentage.
