GREENWOOD, IN - Rose-Hulman had a busy week, finishing with a 3-0 record overall. The Engineers (6-3, 2-1 HCAC) earned road non-league wins over Millikin and DePauw prior to a convincing win over HCAC foe Manchester Saturday.
Senior guard Julian Strickland (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) averaged 16.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game during the three contests.
Strickland had 17 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in a 74-57 win over Manchester Saturday. The senior added 12 points, five rebounds and four assists in a victory at DePauw, and tallied 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists in a win at Millikin.
Rose will play its final game before the holiday break Saturday against John Carroll.
In other action...
Defiance College (7-0, 3-0 HCAC) remained unbeaten on the season with a dominating 78-50 win at home over Transylvania. With the win, DC tied its best start in 40 years.
Bernard Edwards (Detroit, Mich./Warren Cousino) led Defiance with 18 points. Edwards has now scored in double figures for the past three games, the longest active streak for the Yellow Jackets.
The Yellow Jackets now sit alone in first place in the HCAC standings at 3-0.
The College of Mount St. Joseph (5-3. 2-1 HCAC) handed Franklin College (5-3, 2-1 HCAC) its first league defeat Saturday with a 92-86 win. Mark Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio/Northwest) and Joel Scudder (Greendale, Ind./South Dearborn) each scored 22 points to lead the Lions, while FC's Troy Porter (Frankfort, Ind./H.S.) led all scorers with 29 points in the loss.
Hanover College (5-2, 2-1 HCAC) and Bluffton University (4-4, 2-1 HCAC) each earned wins on Saturday, improving to 2-1 in league play. The Panthers claimed a 77-68 home win over Earlham, while the Beavers defeated Anderson 89-79 behind Thayne Recker's (Arlington, Ohio/H.S.) 28 point performance.
