HCAC Places Three Players on D3football.com All-North Region First Team

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference placed three athletes on the D3football.com All-North Region first-team.  Franklin College's Kyle Linville (Speedway, Ind.) and Austin Carlton (Evansville, Ind.) were selected as a member of the first team offense.  Defiance College's Tony Sierra (Warren, Mich.) earned a spot on the first team defense.

Linville and Carlton guided the Grizzlies to a 7-1 conference record during the regular season and earned a spot on the All-HCAC first-team.

Linville, a senior wide receiver, finished the season with 108 catches for 1,374 yards and 14 touchdowns.  The senior was also named one of the 10 finalists for the 2013 Gagliardi Trophy given to the most outstanding football player in NCAA Division III.

Carlton, a sophomore guard on the offensive line, anchored the FC offensive line as the Grizzlies led the HCAC with 464.8 yards and 42.2 points per game. 

Sierra, a senior defensive back for Defiance, was named the HCAC Defensive MVP for his efforts this fall.   The senior grabbed five interceptions with a NCAA Division III-best 26 passes defended.  Sierra also contributed 41 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and one fumble recovery this season.

Three HCAC athletes were named second-team D3football.com All-North Region. Franklin's Zack Corpe (Sr., DB, Elkhart, Ind.), Hanover's Jake Stillwell (So., DT, Pendleton, Ind.), and Defiance's Andrew Feldhaus (So., DB, Lutz, Fla.) earned a spot on the second-team defense.

Seven other HCAC players earned selections to the third-team D3football.com All-North Region squad.  Franklin's Jonny West (Sr., QB, Speedway, Ind.), Rose-Hulman's Kie Bates (Sr., OL, Indianapolis, Ind.), and Manchester's Dakota Nelson (Fr., Ret, Fairland, Ind.) earned third-team offense honors, while Anderson's Tyler Ganus (Sr., DB, Buchanan, Mich.), Franklin's Michael Parks (Sr., P, Shelbyville, Ind.), Manchester's Zach Dashner (Sr., LB, South Bend, Ind.), and Rose-Hulman's Dean Griffing (Sr., DT, Plano, Ill.) earned a spot on the third-team defense.

All-Region teams were selected in balloting by sports information directors in each region and D3football.com staff.
