GREENWOOD, IN - Rose-Hulman finished the week with a perfect 3-0 mark. The Engineers (8-4, 3-0 HCAC) earned a three-game sweep of Bluffton to open the league schedule.
Sophomore Kody Alayon (Hammond, Ind./Bishop Noll) finished the week 6-for-14 (.429) at the plate to lead the Rose-Hulman offense. Alayon collected two doubles, three RBI, four runs scored, and two stolen bases.
On the mound, Andrew Stull (Sammamish, Wash./Eastlake) tossed a complete game three-hit shutout in Friday's 12-0 win. The sophomore allowed just three hits, including one after the third inning, with three strikeouts in the win.
Rose-Hulman will play host to Hanover for a three-game weekend series Friday and Saturday.
In other HCAC action...
Earlham (10-4, 2-1 HCAC) opened the conference schedule with a series win over Defiance (7-7, 1-2 HCAC). Senior Ryan Hayes (New Lebanon, Ohio/Dixie) finished 6-for-10 at the plate with three runs scored, one double, two home runs and four RBI in the series win.
Anderson (9-4, 2-1 HCAC) took two out of three at Transylvania (7-9, 1-2 HCAC) over the weekend. The Ravens pulled out a 3-2 win on Friday and won the second game of Saturday's doubleheader 12-4. Transylvania won game two of the series 11-10.
Franklin (11-5, 2-1 HCAC) took two of three from Mount St. Joseph (5-8-1, 1-2 HCAC) in Cincinnati over the weekend. Scott Windler (Lafayette, Ind./Central Catholic) finished 5-of-12 (.417) at the plate with five runs scored, two doubles, a home run, and a RBI against the Lions.
Hanover (6-7, 2-1 HCAC) kicked off the HCAC schedule with a series win at home over defending champion Manchester (7-9, 1-2 HCAC) over the weekend. The Spartans took Friday's contest 7-2 and the Panthers earned a doubleheader sweep on Saturday with a pair of 6-4 wins.
